Abolitionist Pride 2025: Resistance in Motion
This year, LubunTO chose not to participate in mainstream Pride events, grounding our decision in the needs, reflections, and calls of our own community. Instead, we marched with Abolitionist Pride — a space that centers resistance, care, and solidarity over corporate visibility. Abolitionist Pride was resistance in motion: an affirmation that queer and trans liberation cannot exist apart from struggles for freedom in Palestine, Kurdistan, and on Indigenous lands here and across the world.

We walked in gratitude for those who organized, labored, and stood beside us with courage. This march reminded us that Pride began — and remains — a collective uprising against policing, displacement, and erasure. Our participation honored that lineage and the belief that freedom is shared, not isolated.

Toronto Pride 2024: Joy, Friendship, and Collective Growth
The summer of 2024 was one of transformation and togetherness for LubunTO. Once again, we took part in Pride not only as a celebration but as a living space of community care, friendship, and solidarity. Our Pride season was filled with shared laughter, new connections, and moments that reminded us how joy itself can be an act of resistance.

Marching as LGBTQ+ immigrants from Turkey and nearby regions, we carried our stories and languages into Toronto’s streets — visible, proud, and united. Each banner and conversation reflected our belief that Pride belongs to everyone who dreams of safety, justice, and belonging.

As we look ahead, LubunTO continues to build new programs and events that grow from this spirit of solidarity and learning.
